They’ve lost six consecutive matches. But as Delhi Daredevils face T-20 tournament’s top contenders, Mumbai Indians at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium today, fans are hopeful of a win to boost their morale. The team is currently at the bottom of the table with zero points.
“While supporters of other teams are trolling about Delhi’s dismal performance, as fans we’re hoping for some wins so we can salvage some respect,” says 28-year-old Delhi Daredevils’ supporter, Akash Khanna.
Frustrated with the team’s performance, Rohit Kumar, 23, says: “It’s disappointing when your team performs so badly... Losing six games is too much.” But there’s still hope. “They’ve been the underdogs till now, hope they bounce back soon,” says emcee Ramneek Pantal.
Meanwhile, the internet is abuzz with jokes on the team’s poor performance. Sample this:
“Delhi Daredevils are following Thomas Edison’s teachings... ‘Never say that I failed eight times, say that I discovered eight ways that can cause failure’.
Another one read: “Haar ke jeetne waalon ko baazigar kehte hain aur haar ke haarte rehne walon ko Delhi Daredevils.”
The team will have to win nine out of the 10 remaining games to stay in contention.
