After facing a delay of about two years, DDA's insouciance and then forced to pay for incomplete flats, the allottees of the 2010 housing scheme now plan to hit the streets.
A group of allottees, mainly those who have got flats in Vasant Kunj D-6, have decided to protest outside DDA's headquarters, Vikas Sadan, on August 30. Allottees who have got flats in the area's different blocks such as Ganga, Yamuna and Narmada, are also trying to join hands with their counterparts in other areas.
Hindustan Times first reported the issue on July 30 about how allottees in Mukherjee Nagar and Vasant Kunj D-6 have been either asked to pay up for unlivable flats or are still waiting for completion of flats. The report, followed by other news stories in the past fortnight forced DDA to order an inspection and sack errant officials. DDA's vice chairman Sanjay Srivastava assured action against errant officials and expediting work on incomplete flats."The reports published in Hindustan Times have jolted DDA out of its slumber. Now we plan to keep the pressure on so that DDA expedites work at all sites like the way it has acted in Mukherjee Nagar," said an allottee, requesting anonymity.
"We had to face rude DDA officials and the only way to make them listen is to protest," he said. DDA, which sacked four engineers after an inspection of the Mukherjee Nagar flats site, will carry out similar inspections at other sites.
