When there is a crisis in the family, all brothers should come together in support — that is the message Haryana Chief Minister had for his Jat brethren in Delhi's Bijwasan village.

Ramesh Kumar, younger brother of party stalwart Sajjan Kumar, was given ticket after Sajjan’s candidature was revoked following widespread protest from the Sikh community alleging his supposed role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Hooda’s message was clear and to the point, he asked for votes in the name of Sajjan Kumar and the unity of rural Delhi.

“Sajjan Kumar can take up the issues of the dehat because he is the strongest voice of rural Delhi,” Hooda said, addressing the 3,000 strong crowd that had gathered.

“You know the problems he has faced recently and how he is fighting them. When there is a problem in our home, we should all come together,” he said.

Chautala, on the other hand, tried to press the point that BJP is the real friend of rural Delhi. “Congress works for the rich class, not for the common rural person. Out of 105 crore, 27 crore people do not have money for one meal a day,” he said. “Congress buys politicians, it wants to fill its coffers,” he said.

He also alleged that the Congress didn’t take any action after the Mumbai terror attacks. “We all know that the terrorists came from Pakistani training camps, but Congress did not take up the issue,” he said.

“I hope people would turn up in masses to vote for Jagdish Mukhi, he has done exemplary work and is a good friend,” Chautala said.

Hooda too wants all rural votes for Ramesh Kumar. “Everyone is watching the South Delhi seat intently and want to know by how many votes our brother Ramesh Kumar would win,” he said. “I believe that he would be voted by the biggest margin in whole of Delhi.”

“Sajjan Kumar is a like a brother to me in the same way as there is no difference between Delhi and Haryana,” he said. “We are in the neighbourhood, my area starts right from Rohtak. We are all like brothers and if needed I can also come from Haryana to help you,” the Haryana chief minister said.
