Anna Hazare, who had been admitted in Medanta -The Medicity here for the past four days after breaking his 12-day fast, was discharged on Wednesday.
On his last day in hospital, Anna took a normal diet - pulses, bread and khichdi. His health is improving. His blood pressure and heart beat are normal. He is also putting on weight, said the doctors treating the 74-year-old anti-graft crusader.
Dr Naresh Trehan, who was leading a team of 36 doctors of various disciplines to monitor Hazare's health, said that the blood tests have shown that his kidneys and liver are normal.
"Starvation directly affects the functioning of kidneys and liver, but in Anna's case, it looks that his brahmacharya (celibacy) power worked. He is also gaining weight as his presently weighs 67 kg," Dr Trehan said.
Anna's blood pressure, 140/90, and pulse rate, 80 per minute, were normal, the doctor said, adding that he also gained 500 gram in the last 24 hours. "His condition is near normal. He is a person with a tough spirit and we are sure he will be hale and hearty soon," Dr Trehan added.
Asked why Anna chose Medanta for treatment every time, Dr Trehan said Anna was an old patient of Dr RR Kasliwal and had faith in his treatment.
"A day before he was admitted we received a call from the Tihar Jail that Anna wanted to undergo treatment at Medanta hospital. I myself was concerned about his health and was not able to sleep for 6-7 days. But Anna is an amazing man and his brahmacharya really helped him," Dr Trehan said.
