Delhi High Court on Thursday directed a society, which managed a mosque built on public land in Jangpura that was later demolished, to ensure that no namaaz is offered at the site.

The issue has been a cause of differences between the Jangpura Resident Welfare Association and devotees since January last year.

“It is made clear that as an alternate site has been allotted to the Noor Masjid Committee, no namaaz shall be offered at the site in issue or outside its boundary wall. The namaaz shall be offered only at the alternative site allotted by the DDA,” Justice Rajiv Shakdher said.

The Delhi Development Authority gave possession of the alternative site to the mosque committee on July 17 this year. The court also directed the SHO of the area to ensure that site is cleared of articles such as wooden platforms belonging to the masjid committee. The DDA had razed the issue following protests from the RWA led by its president Monu Chadha.
