Even before the BJP could come up with its first list for the April 15 MCD polls, some leaders have raised the banner of revolt.
Angry over candidate selection procedure, two leaders of the party have already resigned. While Pankaj Jain, president of BJP's New Delhi district, resigned from his post on Wednesday, Mahinder Kaur Narula, councillor from East of Kailash, followed suit on Thursday.
According to party workers, several members are unhappy with the way the party has "overlooked people who should have been given a say in the matter".
"Narula's seat has now been reserved for SC women, making her ineligible for the ward. But instead of consulting her about SC women workers in the area to fill her shoes, they chose the daughter of another BJP leader for the contest, who is not even a party worker," said a senior BJP leader.
More resignations are expected, as the party prepares to release its first list of candidates on March 23. Dissenting members claim that BJP's Delhi unit president Vijender Gupta and leader of the House in MCD Subhash Arya have not been taking calls.
"They are giving tickets to wives and daughters of party workers and are not even consulting area councilors. The wards, where there is no change of status, they are trying to bring in new candidates," claimed another leader.
Narula said she felt humiliated after the party did not care to consider her nominee.
