Somnath Bharti's estranged wife Lipika said on Monday she was considering approaching court against the AAP legislator while addressing a press conference, which was interrupted by her mother-in-law who said she was ready to move to an old-age home to keep the couple together.
High drama unfolded at the press conference called by Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh as Mitra said she wanted divorce from her husband.
Mitra, who claimed that she has text messages and emails as evidence against her husband, alleged that Somnath Bharti had been approaching all common friends and relatives, including her landlord, to convince her to take back the complaint.
"I am very scared for my life. He can do anything. He has threatened me before and after this complaint, I have been receiving calls from unknown numbers and also strangers have been trying to enter the premises of my residence," she said at the conference that was held at Singh's residence. She has been provided police protection.

Bharti's 70-year-old mother, Manorama Rani Bharti, came to Singh's residence along with her counsel and said, "I was pained to know that my daughter-in-law is not staying with my son because of me... I am ready to move to an old-age home if my daughter-in-law can live happily with my son."
Bharti's mother was denied entry to Singh's house amid police deployment. "If she has to say anything, she can come to the commission and state her version," Singh said.
Bharti had earlier alleged that Lipika wanted him to leave her mother. Mitra had refuted the allegations of mistreating Bharti's mother and said: "If his (Bharti's) mother denied my entry to her house, how can I be blamed for not wanting to live with his mother?"
At the press conference, Mitra alleged that she alone was taking care of her two kids. "He has never paid any bills for me," Mitra said.
Accusing the former Delhi law minister of domestic violence, Mitra said Bharti had accused her of working for the BJP and being instigated by police.
"After my complaint to Delhi Commission to Women (DCW) came to light, he (Bharti) asked me if I was working for the BJP or was I being instigated by police," said Mitra.
Expressing shock over Bharti's statement that the couple has been living separately since their marriage in 2010, Mitra said, "It is really painful that after a troubled marriage, with two kids and a termination, today it is me who has to prove my relationship with my husband."
Mitra also alleged that Bharti had manipulated the spouse details in his affidavit filed during the elections.
An emotional Mitra said she had hoped of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's intervention in the issue as he had done in the case where a woman was attacked by a traffic policeman last month.
Amid all the fight Bharti, however, took to Twitter to express his longing for his wife. "I'm hitting another seacoast at Yanam, Puducherry. Wish Lipika was with me. She loves sea shores n we have been together to many sea shores (sic)."
The former law minister also tweeted targeting DCW chief Barkha Singh and questioned if DCW was meant to "break the family or unite" it. "When DCW has listed the matter for June 26, why press conferences b4 that?" (sic) he tweeted.
