Sonam Gulati (22) reached her Dwarka residence at 11 on Wednesday night. A four-and-half-hour power cut greeted her.
“I had a sleepless night because of the power cut. There was no power from 11 pm to 3.30 am. The next day the power was gone from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm only to vanish again from 3 pm to 5 p.m.,” said the physiotherapy student from Hungary who has come to spend her vacations.
“Since we do not have any inverters or generators in our society, all residents were walking around,” she added.
“The heat was just unbearable.”
The Gulatis moved to Dwarka six months ago.
“We do not have an inverter since we hardly faced any power cuts here. But we may have to buy one because of the frequent cuts,” said Poonam Gulati, Sonam’s mother.
“We regret moving here.”
To add to their woes, the elevators in their seven-storey apartment building haven’t been functioning for the last two days.
“The elder people have just stopped venturing out all together,” she said.
