The friends of Bhupender Nagar, chief security officer at a club in Hilton hotel, have alleged the police are deliberately not arresting the people who had beaten him on February 13.
Four persons allegedly beat up 27-year-old Nagar in front of Surya Hotel in New Friends colony after they were denied entry at the club.
Manager of the club Rohit Tomar alleged that a police team had reached the spot and got hold of three accused but the investigating officer let them go.
"The accused used to come to club regularly and create a ruckus. They misbehaved with our guests some two months ago and we filed an FIR against them. After that, their entry was banned in the club. They did come after that but they were not allowed to enter. To take revenge, they had threatened Nagar and other security officers," Tomar said.
On February 13, Nagar had left the club around 5am after which the accused started following him.
The accused followed Nagar from the Kalkaji temple and tried to intercept him twice, but he drove away. Nagar tried to take his car to Surya Hotel but was stopped by the security staff, police said.
As they were checking his car, four persons in a Swift car came and broke the windowpanes on the driver's side with a pistol. The accused then dragged Nagar and his friends out of the car and started beating them mercilessly, the police said.
Sagar’s friends alleged that police were trying to downplay the incident and even after identifying the accused, they never bothered to arrest them.
"The accused have been identified and will be arrested," Ajay Chaudhry, Additional CP said.
The victim alleged police imposed weaker sections to help the accused. "They didn't charge the accused for attempt to murder and didn't add sections of the Arms Act in the FIR despite the fact that they flaunted a gun openly," one of the friends said.
