Hyderabad’s Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) has asked for “some more exhibits” from the police to give a detailed report on the software used during the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) housing scheme draw in 2008.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) said the interrogation of ML Gautam, a retired clerk, has revealed the names of 30 people who may be involved in the scam.
The EOW had collected “samples and exhibits” of the computer from the DDA headquarters in the first week of January and sent them to Hyderabad for examinations.
“The CFSL report is still awaited. The experts have asked us for some more samples. We would get the report after that,” said SBK Singh, additional commissioner of police (EOW).
Police are banking on the forensic report to ascertain whether the “draw was rigged”.
“The accused were involved in submitting application forms under fictitious names in the reserved category. The forensic report would establish whether the draw was rigged or not,” said a senior police officer.
In another development police said the mobile phone records of Gautam revealed that he was in touch with several DDA officials. “We are cross-checking the mobile phone records of DDA officials to know their involvement,” said the officer.
Police said the DDA official who rented out his flat to Gautam is still absconding. The flat is at Milansar Apartment in Punjabi Bagh.
“It was from flat number 65 at Milansar Apartment that Gautam was running his office. The application forms of the Schedule Caste (SC) persons were processed at this flat. So far we have not found any rent agreement between Gautam and the DDA official,” said a senior police officer. Gautam himself lived at flat number-193.
