The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has finally woken up to the existence of its ‘premium’ residential complex in Vasant Kunj D-6.
In a report on April 25 (No power, water: DDA’s premium Vasant Kunj flats a story of apathy), HT had pointed out that work at the complex, though scheduled to be ready by the 2010 Commonwealth Games, has not finished yet.
The 2,709 flats, with prices on the higher side, were allotted as part of DDA’s 2010 housing scheme. But the allottees, who have paid the flat’s full amount, can’t move in as there is still no power or water supply.
Sources in DDA said a meeting was held after the HT report and engineers were asked to finish construction work as soon as possible.
The initial results of the meeting were visible at the complex on Tuesday. Debris and garbage strewn around flats and corridors had been removed and elevators started working in the multi-storey apartments.
“The filth and construction debris near the flats were swept away on Friday itself and from Monday, elevators finally started working,” said VK Dhiman, one of the allottees.
When contacted, the DDA refused to comment on when construction work at Vasant Kunj D-6 would be completed.
There is still no power or water supply in these flats and elevators at the apartments, that go up to seven floors, were not working before Monday.
