The ICC player of the year award came to Sachin Tendulkar in his 21st year of international career which the God of Cricket aptly described 'better late than never'. Talking to NDTV, Sachin said, 'its better late than never. You keep working hard for it. It's come in the 21st year of my international career. It's fantastic. As I said better late than never. so it feels good.'

But he still maintains that Padma Bhushan is the most special honour for him. He said, 'this is wonderful but obviously I wouldn't want to compare this to the Padma Bhushan and the other awards, they have a different meaning altogether for me. It's the second highest civilian award, it's something really really special, I treasure all the awards, but the last thing i want to do is to compare them to one another as I've always maintained that the Padma Bhushan will be a very very special one.'

For Virender Sehwag, the ICC Test Player of the Year award was a proud moment as it was his first ICC award. Specially because Sehwag has been in a tremendous form since his return to the crease in 2008. "Yes, when I got dropped in 2007, my family, especially Arti and my mom supported me, motivated me and said that still you have a couple of years so work hard and you will get another chance so I promised them that if I get another chance I will try to score as many runs as I can and try to win a couple of matches for my country. After that I never looked back. I score in 2008, 2009 and 2010 also. All three years were good for me and I hope that the coming year will also be good for me," said Sehwag.

The awards added to the celebrations in the Indian dressing room as it followed a spectacular Test win at Mohali against Australia. Talking about Laxman's single handed effort in pulling a cliffhanger victory Sachin said, "we were actually sitting in the dressing room, I was sitting with MS, Sehwag, yes only three of us basically, and we had a topic going on and we didn't want to change that topic, we ran out of stories but we said no, we need to continue doing that, a bit of superstitious thing but it was fantastic victory and unbelievable what Laxman did for us and a tremendous character Ishant Sharma has shown."

Talking about his dream of winning the World Cup for India sachin said, that the whole team will do everything possible to be in the right frame of mind and top condition to play.
