A four-member delegation of the the All India IIT Faculty Federation on Thursday met PM’s advisor TKA Nair to discuss the new format of the IIT entrance exam. It said the meeting was “fruitful”.

“We raised our problems in going ahead with the new entrance exam format from 2013 and related problems including the board marks issue,” federation president Prof K Narasimhan said, adding Nair had agreed to communicate their concerns to the PM and the HRD minister.

A delegation comprising representatives of the seven old IITs will meet the PM on Friday.

Meanwhile, a letter by IIT Kanpur director Dr Sanjay Dhande addressed to the chairman of IITs’ council and the chairman of board of governors of IIT Kanpur reveals that the recommended process was in contradiction to the senate’s stand.

It said the senate had on June 8 discussed the recommendations of the IIT council on the admission from 2013. “The recommended process is in contradiction of the senate’s stand…,” Dhandhe wrote.
