Immolation bid in front of Arun Jaitley’s house

A 40-year-old man, claiming to be a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), tried to immolate himself in front of 9, Ashoka Road — which is the official residence of Arun Jaitley, leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

A 40-year-old man, claiming to be a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), tried to immolate himself in front of 9, Ashoka Road — which is the official residence of Arun Jaitley, leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Police said the man, identified as Sunil Goyal, is a BJP block head in Jhilmil ward, east Delhi. Around 11am, Goyal reached Jaitley’s residence and threatened to immolate himself by pouring kerosene.

“Security guards present nearby stopped him and made a PCR call. Police took him to the Parliament Street police station,” said a senior police officer said. Goyal told police he was upset with the politics of party workers. He is a resident of Jwala Nagar in east Delhi.
