Arrested jehadi Abdul Karim Tunda has told Indian interrogators that he was tasked with delivering RDX to Khalistani terrorists in India as part of the ISI plan to target 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
The explosives were to be given to the Indian contacts of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) chief Wadhawa Singh.
Tunda had left Lashkar-e-Taiba in 2004 and was presently operating under Pakistani ISI’s Karachi set-up. One of India’s most wanted, BKI’s Wadhawa Singh is in Pakistan.
According to Tunda, the Pakistani spy agency’s plan to target India through series of blasts during the games was hatched by LeT’s fake currency head Iqbal Kania, Bangladesh agent Maulana Farooq, Col Imtiaz of Lahore ISI and Wadhawa Singh during a series of meetings in Islamabad.
It was Tunda who had provided the services of a LeT explosive expert called Salman from Abbottabad in July 2010, to fabricate the explosive devices. Maulana Farooq was tasked with delivering the IEDs to Bareilly through three Tripura-based ISI agents. Tunda has given out all the names to Indian agencies.
Tunda has disclosed that Salman was asked to assemble 40 kilograms of explosives at the detergent factory of his local contact Abu Baqar. However, Indian agencies, with the help of their Bangladeshi counterparts, were able to nip the ISI plan in the bud.
One of the explosive couriers Mohammed Shamin and Maulana Farooq were arrested in Bangladesh and the RDX was seized.
Tunda has also given out the names of his contacts in the Rohingya terror movement on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, including his association with top LeT commander for littoral states -- Rehan alias Abdul Aziz. Rehan has been responsible for targeting south India through radicalised Indian youth based in Gulf, Oman and Qatar.
Tunda disclosed to Indian interrogators that he was working with ISI’s fake Indian currency racket and liaised between kingpins Aslam Shera and Irshad Ahmed of Karachi and an ISI Brigadier and Col Arif based in Islamabad.
