Almost 9,50,000 anxious Class 12 students in the city will take their board exams from Friday. The exams will begin with English. The number of students who will appear for the exams has risen by 15.51% year-on-year.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed schools to generate online lists of roll numbers of those taking the exams. Schools can also generate online admit cards for regular students.
The CBSE has reached out to blind candidates who will be permitted to use software for the examinations.
The candidates will, however, be required to bring their computers with the enabled software to the examination centres provided they have intimated the board.
The number of chances for compartment and improvement examinations, meanwhile, has been reduced.
The number of chances for compartment for Class 12 has been reduced by two to three while that of attempts for improvement of performance for Class 10 has been reduced to one from five.
The biggest change in the examinations this year, however, remains the introduction of value-based questions in all major subjects for Class 10 as well as Class 12.
These questions, of up to five marks, will be interdisciplinary, but the values to be identified will be intermingled with the content of the subjects.
The questions will be based on content and analysed on the basis of the values it reflects.
