Congress rebel Jaganmohan Reddy has alleged that the Election Commission is delaying the clearance of his party, so he now plans to take over one that was formed in his father's name last year.
Approached by Jagan's aides, Kolisetty Shiva Kumar, the founder-president of YSR Congress party, is expediting the process of 'transfer of ownership' by next week.
"We will first make Jagan a primary member and then our central executive will elect him president. The submission of the same to the CEC will complete the formality," Kumar said.
Jagan's camp has said he will launch his party on March 12.
With not much time left for the Kadapa bypolls - Jagan resigned from Lok Sabha and his mother from Pulivendula assembly in November — the Jagan camp is leaning towards the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress, combining youth, labour and farmer — of society in its name.
"We are still trying to get our proposal cleared - either YSR Party or Rajanna Rajyam - and the CEC seems to be taking time. May be there is some pressure. As we have to gear up for poll, we are taking the YSR Congress option," said YV Subba Reddy, Jagan's uncle.
