Police said Ravi, who eventually committed suicide, ensured that no male member of the house was present when he went to kill Renu, with who he was in a relationship, in her house in Bindapur, west Delhi. Police sources said Ravi used to visit his cousin's house often because of his illicit relationship with Renu.

"His cousin Naveen got married with Renu two years ago. Over a period of time, she developed a relationship with Ravi. The accused was pressuring her to marry him but she was reluctant. Later, Ravi met Renu's younger sister Baby and proposed her for marriage. Their father Harendra was aware of Ravi's illicit relation with his elder daughter, so he rejected the proposal," a senior police officer said.

Police said Ravi had been pressuring Renu and her father to let him marry Baby for the last many months. But they weren't relenting.

Police said Ravi then decided to take action. "He had planned this a few days ago and was staying at Naveen's house from the past two days, waiting for the right opportunity.

On Sunday, Naveen reportedly went to Madhya Pradesh for some work but his elder brother was present. On Monday morning, as soon as Naveen's elder brother left the house, Ravi opened fire and killed Renu," the officer added.

He killed Naveen's landlady Sheela Garg when she came down to check after hearing gunshots. After this, Ravi went to Ghaziabad's Bhojpur area where Baby lived with her father.

"He killed Baby and her father in their house and then went to the first floor and shot himself in the head," the officer added. Ghaziabad police have recovered the bodies and bullets from the spot.

Naveen’s body was later found in the bed-box at his own house, which indicates he did not go to Madhya Pradesh at all.

Police said a domestic help was present when Ravi went on a killing spree but she is gripped with fear and has not been able to say anything so far.

The post-mortem report said Renu was shot twice, while Sheela was hit three times. Police have registered a case of murder in Bindapur and in Ghaziabad.
