For applicants who had applied to Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College under the sports quota, the wait for admissions has been a long one.
The college held trials under the category between June 21 and July 2 but has still not come out with a list of selected candidates.
“We have been waiting for the result with bated breath. I have been selected in a private university but would like to go to Kirori Mal College. I have national level certificates and I think I performed well in the trials. If I take admission in the private university, I will lose a lot of money. I just want the college to come out with the final list and end the uncertainty,” said an applicant on condition of anonymity.
The admissions under the quota were put on hold after members of the college sports admissions committee wrote to the university complaining that the process of preparation of the lists was kept confidential. No one was informed of who the selected applicants were. The committee members also resigned.
“All we want is that the process of selection be made transparent. We want the sports admission to take place for sure,” said a former committee member.
A senior college official, on condition of anonymity, said, “The university first asked the college to stop the admission process but then gave a go ahead, saying it would look into the allegations later. But we have written to the varsity, asking it to either give us a clean chit or tell us what we did wrong. What is the point of giving admission to applicants of it stands a chance of getting scrapped later?”
“The university asked us for all documents and also for the video recording of the trials. We have given them everything. They should go through it and tell us what the problem is,” said the college official said.
