NEW DELHI: Subham Jain had an anxious Sunday morning as he was not able to check his result for the JEE Advanced exam. With the JEE website crashing several students such as Jain had to wait till the afternoon to find out their result.
Students had to wait as the website was down from around 10am to late in the afternoon. “I had checked the answer key so I know I will get a rank between 33-44. Since the site had crashed I wasn’t able to check,” said Jain. He came to know he had got an All-India Rank of 40 when the website was up.
The coordinating institute, IIT-Guwahati, said that the site was paralysed due to the excessive traffic. IIT-Guwahati officials said that the traffic was at the rate of 5,000 hits per second.
“Our high-end server had a serious attack because of system-generated artificial requests. There’s nothing wrong technically and we opened alternative portals for candidates to access without much trouble. These portals provide basic information but the main site has details such as marks obtained per question,” KB Krishna, organising chairman of JEE (Advanced) told HT.
“We hope to end the accessibility issue within a few hours, but by tonight all the candidates will be given the results via smses,” Krishna said.
