The alumnae of Lady Shri Ram College will soon be able to engage with the college and further their entrepreneurial skills.
The college is planning to hold an alumnae bazaar every Thursday where they will be able to showcase and sell items. One former student will be able to set a shop in the college every week.
"The alumni are invited to put on sale items that they are associated in the production or sale of. The shop will be set up in the Lower Foyer and will be open to college students and teachers only," said Meenakshi Pahuja, who is part of the college Alumnae Cell.
The first such shop will be set up this week and is expected to sell cakes and cookies. The timings are set from 11 am to 1 pm.
The scheme may also be thrown open to current students of the college but their requests will only be considered after those of the alumnae.
For alumnae who are setting up their businesses, this scheme will be of great help. "I think this is a great idea and will help me popularise my business. Every new venture needs a little help and this is very special when it comes from your alma mater. I will contact the college very soon to see when I can get a spot," said Surabhi M, who graduated in 2007 and has started her own junk jewellery business.
"An alumnae bazaar is certainly a great idea. It is also a wonderful way to connect with the LSR community and expand your network of clients," said Ketaki Misra, who graduated in 2011 and has started an Indian clothing design venture.
