A 42-year-old man was arrested in north Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter three days ago, police said on Sunday.
The incident was reported from Burari on January 3 and the father of the victim was arrested the same day. The accused, who has separated from his wife due to marital discord, molested his daughter first and then attempted to assault her sexually.
According to the complaint, the man first stripped his daughter and then attacked her. When the girl screamed, her mother came rushing to the spot from her neighbourhood.
It was the mother who approached the police and got a complaint registered. The man has been charged with Section 377 (unnatural offences) of IPC and Section 4/8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).The accused and his wife had strained relations and the latter has filed a divorce petition.
In another incident, a female Delhi Police constable was allegedly molested on a moving DTC bus by a 39-year-old man. The incident took place in east Delhi's Jagatpuri area on Sunday afternoon around 3pm, police said. The constable was not in uniform as she was not on duty.
Akshay Lal, a resident of Mandawali who had molested the woman, was overpowered and beaten up by her and some other passengers aboard the bus, which was plying on route number 374 between Dilshad Garden and Nehru Place.
"The bus was headed towards Nehru Place when Lal started harassing the female constable. Initially, she ignored him but when he grabbed her hands, she raised an alarm and asked the bus driver to stop the vehicle. She pulled Lal out of the bus and beat her up in the public. Lal tried to flee but was caught by a journalist and some other passengers of the bus," said a police officer.
Lal was taken to the Anand Vihar police station, where a case of molestation was registered against him. He has been arrested.
