A 24-year-old Nitish Jalan who had gone missing after arriving at Delhi airport on August 6, hasn't used his e-mail account or mobile phone set after leaving Dubai, where he had stayed for few hours during his journey from UK to Delhi. He had come from UK, where he was studying, via Dubai as he had a connecting flight. His father Prakash Jalan said, he had gone to UK on August 5 to meet his son but Nitish wasn't there.
"Our investigation suggests that after arriving in Delhi on August 6, he went missing. We were not able to trace him as there was no CCTV footage available. We have conducted raids at his possible locations but he couldn't be located," a senior officer of the Special Cell of Delhi Police said. Initially, officers of Delhi airport police station were investigating the case but it was later transferred to the Special Cell.
"We are now dependent on electronic surveillance but the problem is he is not using the mobile set he was using in UK. He is not even using his e-mail account. The last time he checked his mail was at Dubai airport from where he had to take connecting flight to Delhi," the officer added.
The missing man's father suspects foul play. "We suspect that under the influence of someone, he left UK before we could reach there. Someone must have told him that he won't be able to face his father. The authority at Coventry University, where he was doing masters in automotive, is not cooperating," alleged Jalan, adding, "After studying in Dubai, he came back to Delhi in July 2009 and applied for masters in automotive at Germany but couldn't get admission. Then he applied in other countries and finally got call from Coventry University."
Jalan stayed in UK for a week to get a clue about his son. It was after he arrived in Delhi on August 12, he got to know that Nitish had come to India.
