A 28-year-old man was killed after his younger brother pushed him from the third floor of a garment factory in northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar early on Monday morning.
Police said the victim, who worked at the garment factory, had a heated argument with his brother over a minor issue during which the accused hit him on his head with a brick before pushing him off the third floor. The incident took place around 4 am at Mandoli Extension area in Harsh Vihar.
The victim has been identified as Gulsher and he worked at the garment stitching factory owned by one Khiladi Singh.
A senior police officer said Gulsher, a native of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, was planning to leave for his hometown on Tuesday for his wedding that was scheduled to take place on April 21.
His younger brother, Shamsher, 25, who was overpowered by the owner and other workers, works at the same factory, police said.
Shamsher was handed over to the Harsh Vihar police that booked him for killing his brother.
Gulsher and Shamsher, the senior officer said, had been working there for the past few months and stayed in the factory.
On Sunday night, they were on the third floor when an argument broke out between them over the issue of Shamsher not sending money to their parents or meeting them for the past three years.
“The argument turned ugly and Shamsher attacked his elder brother with a brick and pushed him from the third floor. The victim suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot,” said the senior officer.
Shamsher tried to flee but was overpowered by fellow workers and the owner of the factory, who lives on the ground floor with his family.
Shamsher told the police that his elder brother used to insult him because he had not visited his parents for the past three years and was not helping them financially.
“Gulsher was planning to visit his family and wanted Shamsher to go with him. However, Shamsher was not interested in meeting his family members,” the officer added.
