An 18-month-old boy lost his life after he was thrown down from the third floor of his grandparents' house by his father in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur on Monday afternoon.
The police said the accused threw his son, Ankit, following an argument with his wife who had refused to return with him to Gujarat. The accused, identified as Hari Om, a resident of Gujarat, has been arrested. He works as a labourer.
A few weeks ago, a senior police officer said, Hari Om's wife had left his house and came to her parents' house in New Usmanpur. On Sunday night, Hari Om arrived at his in-laws house to take his wife and son back home. In the morning, he asked his wife to return home with him to which she refused. An argument broke out between the married couple and Hari Om told his wife that he will take his son with him if she does not want to come.
"Ankit was in his mother's lap when Hari Om snatched him and threw him down from the third floor. The boy sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival," said a senior police officer.
In another incident, a 12-year-old boy was found stabbed to death at his brother's house in Jafarabad area of northeast Delhi on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Sarfaraj, a native of Bareily in UP.
Sarfaraj was found in a pool of blood by his elder brother Azad, who works in a private factory, in his room where he stays with three more colleagues. "They rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead," a police officer said.
In the third incident, a 34-year-old manager of a mosque located in New Modern Shahdara was stabbed to death by his neighbour and his relatives in Mansarovar Park late on Sunday night.
