Mauritius wants Indian tech institutes to set up campuses

Mauritius has expressed interest in allowing Indian technical institutes, including the IITs and private colleges for setting up their campuses in the Island nation.

Mauritius has expressed interest in allowing Indian technical institutes, including the IITs and private colleges for setting up their campuses in the Island nation.

Discussions in this regard were held between Mauritius' Minister of Tertiary Education, Science Research and Technology R Jeetah and Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal, HRD officials said.

In the talks, Mauritius also showed interest in Indian proposal for a bilateral student exchange programme between the two countries.

Sibal also underlined the need for setting up a mechanism for equivalence of degrees between the two countries for a smoother educational exchange.
