It has been 15 days since a seven-storey building in Lalita Park area of east Delhi collapsed killing 72 people and injuring 180.
However, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is yet to file a vigilance report for the incident.
Now, the civic agency has sought more time to complete investigation into the mishap and file its report.
The MCD’s vigilance department has cited lack of records pertaining to the building as a major hindrance in completing the investigation.
However, sources in the department said in the absence of any records, there are high chances that the MCD officials involved in the collapse might go scot-free.
“Fixing accountability of engineers or building department officials is becoming difficult in the absence of building records,” said a senior official, requesting anonymity.
On Monday, Congress party, the opposition in the MCD House, created a ruckus over the delay in submitting the report.
The civic agency’s deliberative wing has now asked the municipal commissioner to fix a date for report submission.
