Planning to travel outside Delhi today or tomorrow? The fog may hit your plans. The city is expected to get its first spell of dense fog on Thursday and Friday with the Airport Met office predicting dense fog over the next two days.

“The spell of dense fog that started over eastern parts of Northern plains is expected to spread towards Delhi and Haryana on Thursday and Friday,” said RK Jenamani, director, airport Met office.

If the fog is dense, it will hit flight as well as train schedules.

“If the wind stops, we will certainly see dense fog as the cover is moving towards Delhi from western UP. Humidity and temperatures are favourable enough,” Jenamani said.

But there is also some good news. The fog won’t stay for long. “This spell of fog will get over by Saturday. After that, we are expecting fog to return only by the third week of December,” Jenamani added.

The city may, however, witness scattered rainfall on Thursday evening. “The humidity is very high and conditions for rainfall are developing. The rain will help bring the temperature down but will also aid fog formation in the morning,” said a senior MeT official.

The city, meanwhile, experienced a warm day on Wednesday as the maximum temperature was recorded three degrees above normal at 27.4 degrees Celsius.
