Notwithstanding the slight drizzle in evening that brought a huge relief from Sunday's sweltering heat, the weatherman has predicted Monday to be equally warm.
Though there is a possibility of a thunderstorm in some areas in the Capital, the met department said the maximum temperature will be around 38 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has predicted partly cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorm in some areas with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 38 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The sudden change in weather on Sunday evening saw a large number of coming out on streets.
"We were in two minds whether to go for a movie or while around our time at India Gate. The unexpected change after 6pm ended the debate and we had a blast at the India Gate lawns," said Bhairavi Konwar, a young housewife.
Like Konwar, scores of people thronged open spaces across the city, enjoying the holiday mood clubbed with pleasant weather condition, including the evening drizzle.
But the met department clarified this it was not pre-monsoon rains. "The rain was the result of an upper air circulation over Haryana," said a met official.
The day temperature on Sunday rose to a maximum of 37.5 degrees Celsius (two degrees below normal) while the minimum temperature was recorded at 29.3 degrees Celsius (one degree above normal).
