A 13-year-old government school student was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a man because she had turned down his friendship proposal a few days ago. The police have arrested the accused, identified as Gaurav (21).
The victim, a Class 8 student, had lodged a complaint at east Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar police station against Gaurav, a driver, and two of his friends on Thursday. Gaurav and his friend Harish Singh have been arrested.
The minor boy, who allegedly helped Gaurav kidnap the girl, has also been apprehended.
Police said that Gaurav has been booked for kidnapping and raping the girl. The other two accused had helped him kidnap her, they said. Gaurav, who got married a few days ago, told the police that he felt humiliated as the victim had turned down his friendship proposal. So, he planned to take revenge on her, police said.
A police officer said that the victim, who lives with her parents in Dilshad Colony, said she was going to a market near their house when the three kidnapped her.
“She was going to the market when Gaurav, who was in his Santro car with his two friends, stopped the vehicle and asked to sit inside. They took her to Gaurav’s rented flat in Jyoti Nagar where Gaurav raped her,” the officer said.
The victim told the police that the three beat her up and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to her parents or police.
“After confining her for a few hours, they allowed her to go. She straightaway reached the police station and narrated the incident. A police team conducted a raid at Gaurav’s house and nabbed the three. The car used to kidnap the girl has also been seized,” the officer said.
