Five days after she mysteriously went missing from her rented accommodation in east Delhi, the Delhi Police are yet to locate a 21-year-old student of fashion designing.
Identified as Prachi Dhanija, who hails from Muzaffar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh and was putting up at the Lakshmi Girls' Hostel in Shakarpur, the victim was pursuing a course in fashion designing from a private institute in south Delhi's Haus Khas.
"On April 20, she left her PG accommodation around 11:30 am for an exam. She had informed her landlord, saying she would be back soon. However, the exam got cancelled due to some reason and Prachi didn't return to the PG," her brother stated in his complaint to the police.
When Prachi did not return, her landlord informed her uncle Satpal about her disappearance who then contacted the local police and lodged a missing person's complaint. The case was, according to the local police, converted into one of kidnapping at the insistence of the family soon after. "Enquiry has revealed that one of the employees at the establishment, a cook, has been missing since the day of Prachi's disappearance."
Fashion designer claims assault
Fashion designer Jattinn Kochchar has claimed that he and his brother were assaulted by a group of men working at a construction site, including officials belonging to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), near his residence at west Delhi's Naraina Vihar on Thursday morning.
"Three weeks ago, I had complained about construction work blocking my way but they didn't take my complaint seriously at the Naraina police station. Things got out of hand on Thursday morning," Kochchar claimed.
