To set a perfect example of cross-cultural bonding, Modern School, Barakhamba Road, hosted a series of events from November 12-21 as part of the 5th edition of the Community Development and Leadership Summit.
Noted personalities such as home minister P Chidambaram, Delhi lieutenant governor Tejendra Khanna, CM Sheila Dikshit, human resource development minister Kapil Sibal and Hindustan Times editor-at-large Samar Halarnkar interacted with students on different days of the summit.
The meet featured a fashion show titled La Dolce Vita, a play on communal harmony titled 'Gandhi Tum Zinda Ho', diverse exhibitions by the students on the theme 'Ideas, Innovations and Design' and other cultural presentations.
Chidambaram, in his address to the delegates, expressed confidence that the next-generation students will create an impact with path-breaking ideas.
"We need young minds to come up with ideas that can alter the lives of ordinary people and I'm sure every succeeding generation will make the world a better place," he said.
The minister also urged the students to fully exploit their potential and to understand that leadership is a pre-requisite for innovation.
The summit included children from 24 international schools and 18 countries, accompanied by around 150 delegates.
The participating countries included China, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, the UK and the US.
Most of the students described the 10-day unique cultural exchange-cum-educational programme as 'memorable'.
