The top brass of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) will meet in New Delhi on Thursday to brainstorm on their strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in 2014.
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, other prominent BJP leaders and key RSS leaders like Suresh (Bhaiyyaji) Joshi and Suresh Soni will also attend the meeting.
However, party patriarch LK Advani wont be present, sources said. This has, however, led to speculation that he does not want to attend a meeting with Soni, about whose functioning as the Sangh pointsman to the BJP he has had reservations.
“The meet will discuss two key issues. One, how best the BJP and RSS can coordinate for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Second, how best intra-Parivar coordination can be held. We’ll discuss better involvement of our pointsmen in coordination,” said an RSS leader.
Speculation has been rife that Modi may be announced as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate soon, leading to buzz around this meet. However, BJP and RSS leaders say this isn’t on the meet’s agenda.
Later in the evening, the BJP central campaign committee and sub-committees will meet to discuss poll strategy.
