Tuesday proved to be a pleasant day for the residents of Delhi as the Capital saw heavy rainfall and low temperatures.
According to the Met department, the coming few days will also be the same. The rain gauges in the city measured 15.8 mm rainfall during the day.
Since Sunday, the city has received 75.7 mm of rains.
"The monsoon may have been late but the heavy rainfall has made up for the delay," said Reha Khanna, a BPO employee. The maximum temperature, at 32.7 degrees Celsius, remained three degrees below what is normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature, recorded late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, at 25.8 degrees was also two degrees below normal.
"I slept without the switching on the air conditioner after a very long time. Last night was pleasant and so was the morning," said Jayant Sinha, a government employee who lives in Munirka.
The monsoon hit the city on Monday after missing its June 29 date with the city.
But the rains also brought trouble as water logging created traffic blocks at more than 50 spots including Rohini, Chirag Dilli, Dwarka, Najafgarh and Ashram.
The humidity levels also remained high during the day as it oscillated between 95 and 75 per cent.
The Met department said the weather will remain cloudy and the city is likely to receive a few spells of rain on Wednesday, some of them heavy.
