For the first time, the National Capital Region (NCR) is going to get a Metro interchange facility that will virtually bring three important NCR cities closer to each other.
After Phase 3 construction is completed by 2016, the elevated Botanical Garden station in Noida will become the first and only interchange station in NCR.This station will provide interchange facilities between the currently operational Line 3 (Noida-Dwarka) and the upcoming 39 km-long Janakpuri West -Botanical Garden corridor. It will also connect Noida directly with important locations of south Delhi such as Nehru Place, Kalkaji and Hauz Khas. The domestic airport will also get direct connectivity.
“Noida will get directly connected with the domestic terminal of the IGIA. The journey from Botanical Garden to the domestic terminal will take about 40 minutes,” said Anuj Dayal, DMRC.
The travel time between two major NCR towns — Noida and Gurgaon — will also come down to 50 minutes with the interchange at Hauz Khas. Currently, a journey from Gurgaon to Noida takes about one-and-half hours with interchange at the busy Rajiv Chowk Metro station. Besides, Noida commuters also can reach Faridabad in 25 minutes with interchange at Kalkaji.
