New licensing policy for pets

The MCD has now formulated a licensing policy to regulate sale and purchase of pet animals in Delhi. As per the proposal, that will be tabled before MCD’s standing committee today, pet shops and breeders in the city will have to obtain licenses by paying a fee of Rs. 2,000.

The MCD has now formulated a licensing policy to regulate sale and purchase of pet animals in Delhi. As per the proposal, that will be tabled before MCD’s standing committee today, pet shops and breeders in the city will have to obtain licenses by paying a fee of Rs. 2,000. If the owner of such shop violates the rules more than twice, his license will be cancelled. The policy pertains to dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, mice, certain birds, rabbits but does not deal with sale of exotic birds as this comes under the jurisdiction of the wildlife department.
