No bridge over dirty drinking water
Not only is the quality of drinking water available at Shyam Lal College questionable, the place (on the ground floor) where the water coolers are stationed is quite an eye sore too, reports Ritika Chopra.

Not only is the quality of drinking water available at Shyam Lal College questionable, the place (on the ground floor) where the water coolers are stationed is quite an eye sore too.
A layer of slime has invaded
the drinking water zone — a testimony to the unhygienic conditions in the college.
And even as most institutions have installed water purifiers by now, students of Shyam Lal College continue to drink what is supplied by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
“This area is rarely cleaned and that is evident from the filth around here,” said a student of B.Com (Honours).
“The students who spend a good part of the day here are left with no choice but drink out of these taps. Buying bottled water every time you are thirsty isn’t a viable option.”
Principal of evening college G.P. Aggarwal acknowledges the problem.
“As far as the water coolers on the ground floor are concerned, yes, they are a little neglected. The coolers are locked away and so the karamcharis don’t clean this area as often as they should,” he said.
“But we are planning to change things for the better. This area will be renovated very soon.”
