After a hot and humid Sunday, Delhiites can hope for another spell of rain on Monday.
The meteorological department has forecast mild rainfall and an overcast sky for both Monday and Tuesday. Thunder squalls can also be expected in some areas.
“The sky is likely to remain cloudy on Monday and there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers,” said a Met official.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.4 degree Celsius, normal for this time of the year. The minimum was 24.5, three degrees below normal. The humidity was between 49 and 96%.
The Capital has been witnessing rains for the past few days and this has brought down the temperature, providing much needed relief from the severe heat wave.
Delhi got 25 mm of rainfall this month, which was more than what the Capital got in June in the last three years. In 2009, the city received a total rainfall of 19 mm.
Last year, Delhi got only 3.9 mm of showers. The highest rainfall in the month of June in the past 11 years was recorded in 2007, which was 150.9 mm.
