Many parts of south and east Delhi will have to go without water on Friday as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) is conducting major repair works on water lines to these areas.
The repair work will affect many areas, including Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, Kalkaji, Okhla, Jangpura, Patparganj and Sarai Kale Khan.
"We are laying new pipelines and repairing others at Laxmi Nagar Chungi, from where leakages were being reported. Thus, there will be no water supply in many parts of south and east Delhi," said Sanjam Chima, spokesperson, DJB.
Many parts of south Delhi have been suffering from lack of water supply in the last two days because of repair work.
"We had no idea that there would be no water. I had not stored any water, even for drinking, and have been forced to buy water for the last two days," said Jayati Minocha, a resident of Lajpat Nagar.
The DJB started repair work on pipelines and sewer lines throughout Delhi in the past after many roads across the city collapsed due to leakages.
In parts of Sheikh Sarai, Sant Nagar, Kailash Colony, Panchsheel Park and Vasant Kunj, water supply will be affected due to emergency repair of the pipeline at Okhla.
The annual flushing of booster pumps and underground water reservoirs in many areas across the city, during the past two weeks, has also had an effect on water supply in many parts of the Capital.
