Any student wishing to pursue the B.Com course from Delhi University, must have a fair knowledge of subjects like English, financial accounting, business studies, political science and economics.
Science students with an enquiring mind, scientific temper and thinking skills have also excelled.
The B.Com Programme was first introduced in Delhi University in 1969 in consultation with business and industrial houses, with Hansraj College being the pioneer. Soon, the course became very popular and a large number of colleges started running the course.
It was the success of B.com Programme that made B.Com honors the sought-after course it has become. There has been no looking back since then, and the courses' cut-offs have been on the rise every year.
Now the question arises why it has become such a popular course. It is because this course provides all the skills required for business houses, industrial houses, government and public sector undertakings, banking, advertising and even for self-employed personnel.
During their three years, students study a wide range of subjects like financial accounting, laws related to business, economics, income tax, cost accounting, political science, Hindi, English among others.
This is a reason as to why students get absorbed in corporations immediately after passing out from course. Also, for those wishing to pursue further studies, this course opens a variety of academic avenues like M.Com, MBA, CA, CS, and Law, among others. They can also start their own business.
