The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) organised an orientation programme for the first-year students at the University Information Resource Centre at its Dwarka campus.
"Newly admitted students of all 11 university schools and Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) participated in the orientation programme.
The vice-chancellor of the university professor DK Bandyopadhyay addressed the gathering and registrar Dr Bhaskar P Joshi were present along with the deans of schools and other top officials of the university. After the orientation programme, classes were held as usual," said Nalini Ranjan, media coordinator, GGSIPU.
The orientation programmes for the other 103 affiliated institutions of the university were held separately in their respective premises.
The university also made its anti-ragging stance clear.
There were banners with anti-ragging slogans all over its Kashmere Gate and Dwarka campuses.
Police had also been deployed at both campuses to keep tabs on any untoward incident.
After a delay in the counseling dates for the various courses on the university's part, following AICTE's delay in revising the intake for various courses, GGSIPU has scheduled its second counseling for BCA, BSc (Hons) Nursing, BEd, BA (LLB), BBA LLB, BJMC and BBA on August 5.
"However, the second counselling schedule for programmes like B.Tech/M.Tech (Biotechnology) has been deferred and will be notified later on," added Ranjan.
The overall annual intake of the university is around 21,000 students.
