Bedi,Kiran bedi,BJP CM candidate

A day she was named the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate, former IPS officer Kiran Bedi shared her plans for Delhi to HT. Excerpts

The BJP has declared you as the CM candidate, how do you intend to counter the opposition during your campaigning?

It is the voters who will counter the opposition. On Wednesday, we will file nomination papers and then our campaign will start. I will do as much as I can. We have limited number of days. Permission has to be taken for everything and I have to be in my own constituency too.

Do you have any specific plan for New Delhi constituency where Kejriwal is contesting? Will you campaign against him?

I haven’t planned it out yet. If the candidate of that constituency calls me I will definitely go and campaign. I’m not ruling out anything, I will go as per the plan. I think Nupur Sharma is a very good choice and is a very credible face to counter Kejriwal.

What about your constituency? Harsh Vardhan is a veteran from Krishna Nagar. Are you taking his help?

The party is very helpful. I will file the nomination on Wednesday and then we will plan our campaigning strategy. Naturally my priority will be to connect immediately with voters of my own constituency and then I will share my time with others.

There have been objections on you being declared as the CM candidate?

Things have moved on since then.

Many people who joined from other parties have given a ticket. Do you think this will affect the morale of the workers?

I think the party is in very strong hands and knows which direction it has to take. The workers are working selflessly too.

If BJP comes to power, how do you intend to reform the education sector?

I want to make Delhi 100% literate. We will launch a massive literacy campaign. We will welcome NGOs in a big way and will support them. This is closest to my heart.
