Pay Rs. 50/min for waiting at Delhi airport

Picking up someone from Delhi airport’s domestic arrival terminal is soon going to hurt your pocket.
Private cars would be allowed to wait at the pickup lane outside the domestic terminal 1C of IGI Airport for a maximum of five minutes, after which Rs. 100 would have to be paid for the next five minutes. An additional Rs. 50 would be levied for every five minutes beyond that.
The private airport operator Dial has installed a new system in which private cars entering the pickup lane would be issued a receipt with the entry time printed on it. Vehicles would be stopped at pay booths at the end of the lane, where additional wait time over five minutes would be calculated and charged. Loss of receipt would lead to an extra charge of Rs. 500. The general parking rate is Rs. 70 for the first 30 minutes
Implementation date for the new system has not been fixed.
“This is not a parking charge but a means to deter those who use the lane for unauthorised parking for long periods and inconvenience other passengers,” a Dial spokesperson said. “Such practice is prevalent in many airports across India, including Mumbai and Kolkata.”
