Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel offered his resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday evening, sources close to Patel told HT.
Patel met the PM after returning from Mangalore. The aviation minister declined to make public his conversation, but said he had taken the ‘moral responsibility’ for the crash.
Sources said the PM rejected the resignation offer, telling Patel that it wasn’t time to take emotional decisions. Singh is understood to have told Patel that he was needed to strengthen the aviation sector.
