“Sonu was brought to Delhi on Monday night and we took him to Noida today (Tuesday) to identify the place where he had killed Gupta, a resident of Greater Kailash. This was to crosscheck and verify that we have arrested the right person,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity. Since the police claimed that Gupta was asked by Sonu to come to Noida Sector 92, the accused are being grilled in the presence of Gupta’s son.

“The two accused claimed to have lured Gupta with attractive offers to bring him to the crime spot. It would be good if the victim’s family is present during the interrogation and subsequent confession,” the officer added. The third accused in the case, Dilip is still at large.

According to police, it was a planned murder and the trio had come to Delhi with the motive of murder.

Police said after committing the murder, the trio immediately left for Pratapgarh but Deepak came back from Kanpur. “They left in Bansal’s car but abandoned it near Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. After that they left for Pratapgarh but Deepak returned from Kanpur as his wife was in Delhi,” he added.
