A day after they waylaid, assaulted and abducted a 24-year-old mall assistant from neighbouring Gurgaon, Delhi Police are still on the lookout for three of the five men who perpetrated the crime. These three are on the run and disappeared, lock stock and barrel, from their homes in Faridabad.
Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south), said six teams, including special staff of the south district police, have been despatched to Faridabad and a reward of Rs 5,000 has been announced for Amit, the cab driver, whose timely phone call helped police rescue the woman.
"The trio of Deepak (20), Ravish Nagar (24) and Arun (26) is still absconding. When our teams reached Mujera village their houses were found locked. Our teams are scouting the entire area and local enquiry has revealed that the men do not have any previous criminal involvement," DCP Sharma said.
Police said Deepak is the son of a retired Haryana Police constable and has a Bachelor's in Business Administration (BBA) degree. Ravish, too, has a BBA degree and belongs to an affluent family from Faridabad's Ballabhgarh. Arun, Deepak's cousin, belongs to Bhakri village in Faridabad and also has a BBA degree.
Kartar Singh (22), Pramod Singh (23) and their friends Ravish Nagar, Deepak and Arun were on a drunken binge to celebrate Kartar Singh's brand new Scorpio before they decided to abduct the victim on a whim late on Saturday night.
The police have also announced six Asadharan Karya Puraskars for six officers including two sub-inspectors and four constables.
"Had the cab driver called us any later, the culprits might have managed to enter Faridabad and that might have caused delay in rescuing the girl. He will be rewarded," DCP Sharma added.
