The Delhi Police are looking for three well-dressed women. They are no ordinary women but three unidentified females who are apparently involved in cases of bag lifting from the India Habitat Centre (IHC).
A professor from Seoul National University became their latest victim when her bag was stolen at the IHC a few days ago. The CCTV footage obtained from IHC shows three well-dressed women lifting her bag.
“Myunghyun Paik Suh, a professor with Seoul National University filed a complaint on October 25 about the theft of her hand bag while she was having lunch,” a senior police officer requesting anonymity said.
“We have scanned the CCTV footages. They are not very clear. One camera shows three women standing near the table. One of them, wearing a red dress was seen lifting the bag while the victim was having food,” the officer added.
In her complaint, the victim told the police that she had some cash, a smartphone and four USB memory sticks along with credit cards in her bag. “She is staying in a five-star hotel in Delhi and is here for the third Asian Conference on Coordination Chemistry,” the officer added.
The police said they have been receiving complaints of bag lifting from IHC and in most cases, women are involved. “When such incidents happen with foreigners, it creates a bad image of the country. We are doing our best to catch the women bag lifters,” he further said.
