The Centre on Saturday said it was awaiting the report of the National Commission of Women on alleged assault of girls in a Mangalore pub by activists of Shri Ram Sene.
"The National Commission for Women has visited the place. So let us wait for what they will find out and what they will report," Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said while replying to a query at a press conference here.
Chidambaram said the matter was being looked into by the Karnataka Government and added that the Home Ministry had not sought any report from the state.
"At the moment, it is being handled by the government of Karnataka. We have not asked for any report. Let us see what the government of Karnataka does," he said.
Members of a right wing Hindu group Shri Ram Sene had on January 24 allegedly assaulted boys and girls at a Mangalore pub accusing them of dancing in an "obscene manner".
