Rallying for CWG

Finally there is some positivity to The Commonwealth Games (CWG). The 10th Family fun car rally organized by Hindustan Times and the Organizing Committee (OC) of Commonwealth Games to mark 30 days to the games, saw a huge turn out. More than 100 families from across Delhi participated in the event, which was themed as My Delhi My Games.
"I love the spirit that Delhiites are showing for the Games. CWG will be a success only if citizens of Delhi come out and support it," said Mr. Suresh Kalamadi, Chairman- Organising Committee, CWG while flagging off the car rally.
The participants completed a 70 km long stretch covering some of the main parts of central and south Delhi like Talkatora Stadium, the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Ambedkar Stadium, Raj Ghat, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the Siri Fort Complex and ITO.
"The rally will encourage the people of Delhi to showcase their fervor and enthusiasm towards the Games in an exquisite way," said Purnima Pendse, Additional director-General, Ceremonies, Organising Committee. "It is indeed very encouraging to see the city respond to this initiative with such warmth and enthusiasm and I am sure that they will do their best to make the Games a success", adds Pendse.
At the end of the rally, prizes were distributed to the winners. Ms. Kanchan's car (Car No. 2181) was declared the best decorated car. The Best Dressed Family prize went to Mr. Anurag & Family. Mr. Ashish Gupta (Car No. 2409), was the first one to complete the whole stretch, followed by Mr. Kamal Jain (Car No. 6375) in the second place and Mr. Vinod Kumar (Car No. 2422) in the third. Lowest Scorer prize was won by Mr. Amit Jain (Car No. 0200). The winners were awarded with free tickets for events like athletics and weightlifting.
