A 5.5-foot ratsnake was found in a public toilet at the Talkatora Stadium by a Wildlife SOS team on Wednesday.
The snake, which was later found to be non-venomous, was spotted by a staff member of the Sulabh Toilet Complex at the Talkatora Stadium.
Around seven pm, the staff member made a frantic call to the police control room as soon as he spotted a large, yellowish snake crawling into the women’s washroom. The call was then diverted to the rescue team and operation were started immediately.
“From the details provided, we determined that the snake was probably a ratsnake and this was confirmed when we reached the location. It could have been a threat to anyone but the reptile was rescued in time,” said Wildlife SOS Rescue Coordinator, Harshad Solanki.
The ratsnake, which is quick and easily excited, was freed soon after a routine examination. After it was caught, it was examined and deemed fit for release into its natural habitat. The rescue team ensured that the reptile was carefully removed.
